Utrecht longboard brand featured on Eurovision Song Contest

Last updated 5 years ago by UtrechtCentral.com

An Utrecht based longboard brand was featured on this years Eurovision Song Content. Owner of Simple Longboards, Luutse Brouwer, received a call from a friend one evening during the Eurovision Song Contest, “Hey man, you’re longboards are on TV.” Luutse was surprised when he turned on the TV to indeed see his longboards being used as part of Estonia’s postcard video. Have a look below: It was only yesterday when I was having a walk around my neighbourhood to see a few lads at work on wooden planks. They told me they were producing handmade longboards and the product is taking off quite well worldwide. “We receive orders from all around the world,” told Luutse. It immediately came to me how wonderful it was that Utrecht-based longboards were being shipped around the world; what a great way to put the city on the map associating with such an active contemporary sub-culture. Have a look at the boys at work here:

Simple longboards come in six different flavours; one to suit every kind of rider. The lower the board is to the ground, the more stability one gets. That and of course fat, rubbery soft wheels. I know because I tried two different variations yesterday. You’ll be surprised at the amount of terrains these boards can handle with minimal stress to the leg joints.

Have a look at some of the finished products here:

If you’re a longboarder or you’re planning to take up the sport, make sure you own a true Utrecht-made longboard. Not only will you pride yourself that you own a true handmade Dutch longboard, but you’ll also make Luutse a happy chappy. He’s gone out of his way to make sure you get something you will admire for years to come.
