Marco van Basten next possible manager for FC Utrecht

Last updated 7 years ago by UtrechtCentral.com

Utrecht-born football legend Marco van Basten could become the next manager for FC Utrecht who are struggling to keep away from the very bottom of the Dutch Premier League (Eredivisie).

Van Basten, who is currently manager of Dutch club SC Heerenveen, is believed to be the most suitable candidate to steer FC Utrecht in the right direction.

[GARD align=”right”]The idea, according to club owner Frans van Seumeren, is that the 49 year old Van Basten will become trainer alongside Jan Wouters, who currently coaches FC Utrecht. Van Basten’s contract with SC Heerenveen ends this summer.

The former Oranje coach has already mentioned that he is not interested in coaching a foreign club because he would like to spend more time with his family who is based in Holland.

Van Basten led the national team during the World Cup 2006 and the European Cup in 2008 and is known by many as one of the greatest stars in Dutch football.
