Ross Smith is the coach for Utrecht Ladies rugby team.
He reports on last Sundays game, a narrow defeat for our ladies against a strong Castricum sice
“As a coach, it was a day of mixed emotions!
Frustration, that we started so slowly, and gave Castricum a 22 point head start after 30 minutes! Including a try in the 1st minute!!! Things started to change as we got a try before halftime. This seemed to completely change the teams mind set. At half time we stood 5-22 down.
The 2nd half was completely different, we looked like a completely different team. We took the game to Castricum, scoring regularly, and drawing closer and closer. The passion, and effort from the team was exceptional. With us winning the 2nd half 30-15, and Castricum looking for the final whistle. In the end it was not quite enough with URC losing by a conversion, 35-37!
The 2nd half performance was exceptional, and the two match points were completely deserved.
Excited, to see if we can to carry this level of performance into our away game against Delft.
Overall a very proud coach.”
