Brigit Calls at Het Huis was happy to let me know about their next piece of performance work.
Next week, Wednesday 3 October, they have an interesting programme at Het Huis Utrecht.
This takes the form of their popular Club Eclectique where for the evening they invite artists to design and host a programme for this night.
As usual for this event they have handed over the ‘management’ to a different performer and for this night it will be Collectief Elan (d). They will provide an evening-filling programme at this, the fifth edition of Club Éclectique.
On the menu are two complete performances from Flemish artists. On display are Collective Elan (d) with “In between Spaces” which is an absurdist performance that will involve the audience in a world of eighty chairs, where two mysterious figures in motorcycle helmets and a voice-over will treat the spectators to a completely unpredictable sequence of events. If you recover in time you will be able to watch Marieke Dermul with her “European Citizen Popsong.” For this performance Dermul travelled through Europe to collaborate with other Europeans on a song of friendship, with the final goal of participating in the Eurovision Song Contest in 2018. I can’t remember whether she succeeded or not. Perhaps all will be revealed at the Het Huis when you see the result!
You can read more about this on the website at Het Huis.
Afterwards, it appears that Collectief Elan (d) has planned a speed date review! That should be interesting as I am not sure what form it will take. So perhaps you’d best just visit. You never know it may be a life changing event for you!
It would be great if you and your colleagues will visit this Club Eclectique for what looks like an intriguing evening.
Het Huis have a very interesting Facebook page which will keep you up to date with what’s happening there.
The Het Huis supports young theatre talent in their artistic development, but also assists in business and production. In their beautiful characterful building, a former school building converted into a theatre and café they are able to offer space for artists, art students, theatre companies, the creative industry, start-ups and the business community. Het Huis Utrecht is a lively meeting place, full of atmosphere and extremely hospitable. A place to see and to be seen!
Het Huis Utrecht produces and programmes talk shows, debates, festivals and performances, often in collaboration with various Utrecht partners. they are firmly rooted in the neighbourhood and see themselves as a matchmaker between art and social issues. The Het Huis Utrecht is also a popular location for those who would like to rent space for conferences, workshops and presentations.
Once again, we can see art and culture at the centre of the city. It is the very heartbeat of Utrecht and needs to be nurtured. Het Huis does this in a constructive and supportive way and should itself be cherished. Where would the creative arts in Utrecht be without people like those at the Het Huis? It doesn’t dread thinking about. They give so much to your city. We need to support them. Get in touch with Het huis to see how you could get more involved.
