Boom in Utrecht Office Space Rentals

Last updated 2 years ago by Jon Wilkins

It has been forecast that the rental of office space in Utrecht will reach a new record this year. In Utrecht, the highest number of square meters has been let since 2005.

CBRE, real estate advisor, expects this on the basis of the figures recorded for the third quarter of the financial year in 2018 and the upcoming rentals negotiated in the last three months. The increase is a direct result of the growing economy and rising employment in The Netherlands. Over the past nine months, companies in the media and technology sector and business services in particular have been very active in the rental market. There has in addition, been several large lease contracts signed by organizations in the letting of office space in Utrecht showing a record lift. From January to September this year there has been 62 percent more office space rented than in the same period in 2017. The total take-up this year will be more than 180,000 m2.

In Utrecht, many new leases are being signed this year in new construction areas. We can see this especially around the Central Station, in the Central Business District says a representative of CBRE. We have mentioned before in these pages how space has been rented in the sparkling new WTC and in the Creative Valley CS. This illustrates the popularity of the area. A lot of companies from outside of Utrecht have taken up space in new builds in the city. Utrecht is the place to be.
