Great news for lovers of womens cycling road racing is that the BeNe Ladies Tour 2019 will start in Utrecht with the prologue in the unique setting of the Leidsche Rijn.
Race promoter Geert Stevens tells us:
“We are very pleased to be able to work together with a cycling-loving city like Utrecht. Moreover, the process of the prologue is very special. It will be a fantastic experience for the riders to be able to race through Leidsche Rijn, the new district of Utrecht. The start of the prologue is at Castellum Hoge Woerd, the place where the Romans once guarded the border. The riders race from ‘old to new’ because the arrival strip is drawn in the middle of the brand new shopping center in Leidsche Rijn on the Paris boulevard “.
This is the only cross-border cycling race for the world top riders in women’s cycling, with a 2.1 status at the UCI, and will be held from Thursday 18 to Sunday 21 July 2019.
Further good news is that Utrecht will also be the starting point in 2020 and has an option for 2021.
Last year Marianne Vos was the final winner, we hope for similar dutch success in 2019.
