FC Utrecht win spoilt when fighting breaks out

Tonight saw the first win of Dick Advocaats reign when FC Utrecht defeated MVV Maastricht at Stadion Galgenwaard 2-0 with goals from Dessers and substitute Nick Venema.

Cyriel Desser netted with a penalty in the 60th minute.

They only confirmed the victory with Venema’s late goal in the fifth minute of injury time and struggled against the second division team..

Both teams ended with ten men as FC Utrecht substitute Lukas Gortler and MVVs Joen Schroyen were sent off.

Team: Jensen, van der Maarel, Guwara, Kerk, van Overeem, Gustafson, Dessers, Bergstrom, Letschert, Klaiber, Gavory.

It was a shame that after the game fighting broke out when MVV supporters attacked those of FC Utrecht.
