Utrecht Wine Bar makes National Final

Utrechts own Wijn- en eetbar Most makes final!

The 15 finalists for Netherlands ‘Wine Bar of the Year 2018’ have been announced after more than 12,000 people voted in a nationwide poll via wine-bars.nl

Last November Wine bars in The Netherlands were completely dominated by the thoughts of the public as to who would be named: ‘Wine bar of the Year 2018’. With 150 participating wine bars and more than 12,000 votes, this edition is even more popular than last year. The ten wine bars with the most votes are added together with the five wine bars that the jury has presented to the next round. These 15 wine bars will be inspected during a mystery visit, and after a jury discussion it will be announced which wine bar can call itself ‘Wine bar of the Year 2018’.

The winner will win a Coravin Wine Preservation System and an all-round trip to Moët & Chandon with overnight accommodation for two people.

The Top 15 Chosen

The ‘Wine Bar of the Year’ competition started in 2014 and is a great success every year. Also this year the wine bars pulled everything out of the wine cabinet to get as many votes as possible. A top 15 has been formed from the public votes and the wine bars presented by the expert jury.

The 15 wine bars will continue to compete for the title ‘Wine bar of the Year 2018’. The winner will be announced on Tuesday 6 January at 4 pm on the ‘Alles Over Wijn’ square at the Horecava 2019.

The wine bars will be judged on different facets, because what makes a wine bar the best wine bar in the Netherlands? The judges will look at the amount of open wines, the knowledge of the staff, the right glassware, matching dishes and whether a well-arranged wine list is presented.

A Professional jury has been drawn up to make the final decision. The jury consists of Sharon van Lokhorst, wine journalist from Entree Magazine and JFK, Robert van Dijk of main sponsors Coravin, Hans van de Meeberg of Misset Horeca and specialbite.nl, Ron Vermeulen a hospitality expert and from food-market.nl), Romy Kooij a wine teacher, wine journalist and miss-winelane and Robert Verhoeven the co-owner of Pitch PR and founder of wine-bars.nl.

The competition is sponsored by Coravin.

Two years ago Wijnbar VinVin of Utrecht won and previous to that Wijncafe Lefebvre were winners, so we can see it is a Utrecht success story.

We look forward to Wijn- en eetbar Most completing the hat-trick!
