Utrecht property sales doubled in April

Property sales in the province of Utrecht were up 65% in April compared to the previous year according to figures from the national registry. The province also experienced the largest growth in comparison to the rest of the land.

Terrace houses attracted the most buyers; their sales were up by more than 75% compared to April 2013. Semi-detached houses were the least popular choices but their sales figures were up by 42% compared to April the previous year.

The robust growth of the housing market resulted in more mortgages than usual. The registry recorded 10,693 new mortgages; a 53% growth compared to the previous year.

The number of forced sales also rose considerably from 16% to 164%.
