Utrecht sees the arrival of its 350,000th citizen

Wow! Utrecht now has 350,000 inhabitants. The family made their official registration of the birth of their son on the 7th of September.  Mayor Jan van Zanen  visited the proud family’s house in Zuilen yesterday to commemorate the occasion with them.

Jan van Zanen said that the arrival of their child was a very gratifying occassion for the family but the event was also a special moment for the city of Utrecht.

Every year about 5,000 children are born in Utrecht. The city grows by around 80 inhabitants per week.

If Utrecht continues to grow at this rate, it will be home to about 400,000 inhabitants by 2025.
