Treaty of Utrecht commemorated in royal style

Last updated by

The 300th anniversary of the Treaty of Utrecht was celebrated by HM Queen Beatrix and designated members of the royal Dutch family at the Dom Tower in Utrecht on Thursday evening.

It was just 3 centuries ago when the actual treaty received its first signatures as an initiative to bring peace and prosperity to European nations at war at the time.

The commemoration includes the unveiling of a painting specially designated to mark the event. The work of art displays a number of Utrecht officials in negotiation during the event that took place on April 11, 1713.
