The National Institute for Public Health and the Environment has called for the closing of many businesses, shops, and office spaces for the time being in light of the spread of the coronavirus. Here is some information and some tips for stocking up and staying home in Utrecht during the spread of Covid-19.

Adjusted store hours
Some grocery stores, including Albert Heijn Hoog Catharijne and Albert Heijn XL Utrecht, are introducing an “ouderenuurtje,” giving the opportunity for elderly (70+) shoppers to do their groceries for an hour before the store is open to the general public. The Hoog Catharijne Albert Heijn enforces this hour from 7-8am. You can check if your local stores offer this service on most of their Facebook pages.

Some Albert Heijn stores have put tape down on the floor in lines to signal 1,5 m distances encouraged to be kept between individuals in the store.

Many chain stores like IKEA, Zara, and SissyBoy in and around Utrecht have closed until further notice. Stores with essential products like Kruidvat and Etos are remaining open for the time being. To learn more about which stores are closed at this time, visit their individual websites or facebook pages for updates.

PostNL remains in operation and they state that they will still continue to operate as long as they can meet the health standards issued by the National Institute for Public Health and the Environment.
