Renovation Galecopperbridge starting last stage
Last updated byThe renovation of the Galecopperbridge is reaching its end. The bridge has been under construction for over a year now, but Rijkswaterstaat hopes to finish the project in the fall of 2015. Traffic should not be disturbed too heavily by the proceedings.
During the past year, the bridge received a new pavement and a renovation of the substructure. The bridge was also heightened, making it possible for ships to carry higher loads.
The renovation proved to be necessary when it turned out that the traffic over the bridge had increased dramatically over the past 30 years. Nowadays, the Galecopperbridge is the second busiest bridge in the Netherlands.
