Politician linked to marijuana plantation discovery in Arnhem

Last updated by

Carel van Gelder, member of the VVD political party (People’s Party for Freedom and Democracy) has been allegedly associated with the discovery of a marijuana plantation in Arnhem; a city East of the Netherlands.

The raid took place in 2011 and it was believed that Mr van Gelder agreed to pay out a bribe to the middle man involved in the growing process of the plantation. That figure ended up never receiving his money from Gelder for his deeds which led him to confess the entire incident to the authorities.

Mr van Gelder initially confessed that he was merely a witness to the incident. The case is ongoing and van Gelder will be providing his side of the story in defense of his case.
