Old hospital becomes residential area
The former hospital in Kanaleneiland will become the home of at least 765 starters and students. Four architects have been working on the project (“UP-living”) that is expected to take over a year. At the end of 2015 however, the first 37 homes should be habitable. The eye catcher of UP-living is the new tower that’s going to be built at the hospital ground. It will be 70 metres high and should be able house around 470 students.
Sustainability is one of the key components in the project and efforts will be made to be as eco-friendly as possible. Rubble will be recycled and the old hospital beds will be preserved.
