More electric buses are appearing on the roads within Utrecht’s public transport system. At the beginning of 2020, there were just 17 electric buses operational; that number has risen to 60.

In 2019, the province of Utrecht, together with a number of major transporters within the industry took steps towards the city’s ambition for the public transport system to run on 100 percent clean and sustainable energy by 2028.

Syntus Utrecht and U-OV; the two largest players, have considerably increased their range of electrically powered buses this year and will continue to do until the city’s sustainable energy objectives have been achieved.
