Miffy gone for repairs as vandals strike again

Last updated by

The entrance to the Miffy Museum looks a bit different now since vandals went and damaged the Miffy statue yesterday. The police are looking for witnesses who can provide tips on the incident.

Miffy statues were also subject to vandalism during the Tour de France start in 2015. Miffy statues were placed all around Utrecht as a symbolic gesture to the city and many either had their ears broken off or were damaged in some way or another.

Miffy is a small female rabbit in a series of picture books drawn and written by Dutch artist Dick Bruna. The original Dutch name, Nijntje, is a shortening of the diminutive konijntje, “little rabbit”.
