Free internet access at Utrecht Central station

A number of major participating train stations in the Netherlands – among them Utrecht Central station – have been fitted with internet hotspots to permit the use of ‘the internet’ free of charge. The initiative has been made possible by KPN, major telecom services provider for the Netherlands.

Other stations that have received such installations include Rotterdam Central, Schiphol Airport, Amsterdam CS, Amsterdam Sloterdijk, Amsterdam Zuid and Amsterdam Amstel.

Free internet has become the norm on most ‘long-distance trains’ so the move towards making the service available at stations has become well accepted. The National Railway (NS) are enthusiastic about the partnership with KPN.
