Fire in a psychiatric hospital in Utrecht

A 30-year-old man was arrested in Utrecht last night after he was suspected of arson in the Willem Arntsz House on the Lange Nieuwstraat.

The fire broke out in a room of the closed ward at the institution of Altrecht where psychiatric patients are treated and people can go for a short admission.

After the fire, patients were removed from several floors and were provided shelter in another building. A spokesperson said that all patients are now safely back in the Willem Arntsz Huis.

According to the Safety Region Utrecht, it was a small fire. Three people were medically examined because they had breathed in smoke and the police are investigating the facts.
