Feeling lonely in Utrecht this festive season? It doesn’t have to be that way!

Last updated 6 years ago by UtrechtCentral.com

Looking for someone special to keep you warm during the winter months? Then you might want to try out ‘Schuifeldate’; a new dating trend that is designed to get you hooked up in no time.

The very first Schuifeldate evening took place on Saturday, December 20th at the Kargadoor; a club along the old Oude Gracht.

[gard align=’right’]Eager singles began showing up around 8pm; some sitting shyly in anticipation and other quickly mingling to get a taste of the atmosphere. Other girls were huddling and chatting with one another beside a lava lamp, further enlightened by Christmas lights and heart-warming candles.

The romantic setting was definitely in full flow and it was not long before single women and gentlemen we’re already getting informally acquainted.

“Sixteen men and eighteen women in all there were between 25 and 40 years of age”, exclaimed Marlous; one of the organisers.

Time for dance: the first song of the evening begins to play; “Heaven” by Bryan Adams. Still a little uneasy, the singles pick up their confidence to confine in one anothers’ attention and touch. A few minutes later, the whole act in its entirety seemed the most normal thing in the world, just like in the old days.

How the evening carried on will not be revealed here due to privacy reasons but if you’re considering meeting someone quick without too much dilly-delly, this might be the one for you.
