The AD (Algemeen Dagblad) has reported that a young couple from Utrecht has been arrested for possession of stolen license plates, counterfeit money and a loaded firearm near Leiden.

The incident started Sunday night after police responded to reports of a ruckus at the British Petroleum Station on Leidse Schouw in Alphen about 40 kilometers west of Utrecht. About 10 p.m. officers arrived to find a car with an angry couple having a loud, violent argument in the parking lot.

The officers pulled their service weapons on the 26 years male driver once it was discovered that he possessed a registered firearm, later found hidden under the driver’s seat of the vehicle. Once extracted from the car, both parties were arrested when a subsequent search of the automobile revealed counterfeit cash, stolen license plates and evidence of more firearms violations.

Police haven’t issued a formal statement yet, but more charges are expected as the investigation continues.
