Professor James Kennedy new headmaster for University College Utrecht

Professor James Kennedy will become the new headmaster of the University College Utrecht (UCU) as of 1st October 2015.

Kennedy, who is currently professor of Dutch history at the University of Amsterdam, will succeed Rob van der Vaart who has led the UCU since 2008.

James Kennedy is an American historian who grew up in the United States and has been residing in the Netherlands since 2003. In the past, he was a Professor of Contemporary History at the Free University.

Kennedy started working as a professor at the University of Amsterdam from 2007. During his time there, he did research on how people dealt with emerging minority groups in the Netherlands succeeding World War II.

Kennedy has become renowned in the Netherlands for his research and has gained considerable recognition from the the Dutch Organization for Scientific Research (NWO). He has also received multiple subsidies from multiple academic funding institutions to fund his research.

The UCU is a selective honors college for academic education. It offers challenging programs in the English language to small classes of highly talented students.

The UCU plays home to an international community of students from over fifty different countries within an enclosed campus.
