A WORLD WITHOUT US
A World Without Us imagines a world without humans. The way we, as a species, currently interact with nature and the environment means that that time will perhaps arrive much sooner than we can conceive. In 2007, American journalist Alan Weisman published a work of non-fiction entitled The World Without Us in which he describes what would happen to the planet if humans were to suddenly disappear. He outlines which traces of human civilization would soon be lost, how cities and houses would tumble into disrepair, which materials and structures would survive longest as well as how the various non-human organisms would develop after humanity’s disappearance. A World Without Us wants to communicate the urgency of working towards improved dealings with nature. The exhibition and the accompanying programme show the damage we as humans cause as well as how the right use of technology can create solutions.
What would the world look like without us? Find out in the exhibition A World Without Us!

The artists A World Without Us will discuss the works in the exhibition as part of their body of work and the questions the exhibition wants to address: What will our future with robots and AI look like? How can artists contribute to change with narratives regarding our impact on the planet? Can we influence human evolution? Should we? What can we learn from the past if we want to look at the future? Is there a planet B?
And from 17 January till 20 January There will be
Future Life – conference, curated by Anna Dumitriu again at The IMPAKT Center for Media Culture, Thursday 17 January – Sunday 20 January
This conference reflects on the themes of the exhibition A World Without Us and explores what life might mean in a post climate change, post singularity future.
What roles art can play in engaging audiences in environmental issues, the development of artificial intelligence and the societal implications of our decisions?
