The nominees for the “Forum of the Directors” have been announced for the 40th edition of the Netherlands Film Festival. A total of 12 cinematic productions have been selected on the basis of “unique voice and vision”.
The Forum of Directors initiative offers filmmakers a platform for projects that have left the beaten track and have learned to embrace new narrative forms.
Here are the nominees for the Forum of the Directors NFF 2020 in alphabetical order:

The films will be screened on demand this year in NFF’s new online environment; most will be subtitled in English. Visitors are invited to learn more about the online platform which will become available on the website of the NFF from the 7th of September.
The platform will provide a good mix of traditional media, podcasts, online exhibitions and critical discussions with the directors. The titles listed above will also be available for your viewing pleasure.
The winner will receive the VEVAM Fund Prize from the Forum of the Directors on Thursday the 1st of October. The prize consists of a specially designed trophy for the Forum and a €5,000 money prize.
Hugo Emmerzael and Inge de Leeuw are this year’s curators for the 6th edition of the Forum of the Directors, both with extensive experience within the world of film. Emmerzael is a film critic, programmer and editor of De Filmkrant. De Leeuw works as a film programmer, curator and program maker.
