Moxy Hotel to be established near city center

Last updated 2 years ago by Michael Darmanin

The city’s expansion is in full effect; a new hotel is to be established at the Rotsoord in Utrecht, The Moxy Hotel.

The Moxy will have a total 172 rooms and will be located between the Vaartsche Rijn and the Police Station. The city council are yet to approve the demolition of De Waarde recycling shop and old Citroën Boll garage before construction may commence.

The Utrecht Municipality approved the plans from the developer this week for the addition of the budget hotel, which is part of the ‘Select’ range of hotels by The Marriot. This range of hotels offers luxury at an affordable price.

Completion of the building is expected to be rapid thanks to the employment of a modular building system. Other aspects have already been taken into consideration prior to construction such as the maximum height of the building which in turn may have shadow effect over the city during summer days. Did you know that buildings around the center of Utrecht may not exceed the height of the Dom Tower?

What do you think about the city’s expansion as an international hub? Do we need more hotels in Utrecht?
