The Utrecht Municipality have fined Beers & Barrels, a catering establishment located at the Veilinghaven last night. See map below for location.
Not following rules and regulations
Security personnel working for the Utrecht Municipality found that too many people were present at the location and that the 1.5 meter distance rule was not being followed. They have furthermore warned that there will be a fine for every subsequent violation in this case.
Warnings in the past
The catering establishment in question had recently been warned because of their lack of supervision and the fact that their guests were not adhering to the one and a half meter rule. A number of visitors were recently diagnosed with COVID-19 after a birthday party was held at the same location last week. The Municipal Health Service for Utrecht (GGDrU) is currently conducting a contact investigation following the new cases.
Social responsibility by entrepreneurs
Entrepreneurs are responsible for ensuring compliance measures are met while open. Last week, the municipality informed the council that some catering businesses are regularly failing to comply with rules and regulations set in place to prevent further infections. That is why enforcement officers are frequently visiting locations that pose a risk such as those operating within the catering industry.
