Sint Maartenssteden conference in Utrecht
Last updated by
Utrecht welcomes delegations from 20 to 22 September for the annual Sint Maartenssteden conference. Visitors from Hungary, Germany, France, Belgium, Slovenia, Corsica, Austria, Slovakia, Italy and Luxembourg will come to Utrecht for a conference on the theme ‘Shared Citizenship’.
An innovative part of the event will be dinner offered by The Eet Mee Foundation where the international guests will be invited for a meal at the homes of Utrecht residents, when on the Friday evening the guests will be picked up by host families from different neighbourhoods of Utrecht. They will cook for them and exchange ideas about culture, sustainability, war and peace and other Sint Maarten themes at the evening dinner table. This is an initiative of Eat Mee! that fits in beautifully with the tradition of Sint Maarten and the conference theme ‘Shared Citizenship’.
The international network of Sint Maartenssteden meets annually and this year the Utrecht Sint Maartensberaad is host.
In addition to the meeting and lectures, the programme will also include a visit to Huis Doorn and the Fortress of Democracy museum as reminders of conflicts past. In addition, there will be a series of Sint Maarten city walks, a performance by Tjerk Ridder and a visit to the Stadskantoor where mayor Jan van Zanen will receive the delegations.
