Filmtheater ‘t Hoogt
Cinema ‘t Hoogt is located in the city center in an eponymous street and surroundings. It is located in seven monumental buildings. The buildings were restored in the early 1970s by Het Utrechts Monumenten Fonds.
In the 1970s, the first film houses opened in the Netherlands with an alternative film circuit. ‘t Hoogt opened in 1973 in the restored buildings, making it the first film house in the Netherlands. The former employee of the Utrecht cinema Wolff Camera and pivot in the Dutch film world Huub Bals was appointed director at the start, followed in 1980 by the current director Henk Camping.
Over the years, the spatial layout of the cinema complex has been slightly modified.
