The rainy period is always good for those who want to relax, take some personal time with their loved ones, and watch some great movies. Ready-steady?
The Godfather (1972)
One of the most known movies of all time is Godfather. As the main theme, we have the Italian mafia and one man who is controlling everything. How is he doing that? A big personality, the principal of one hand is washing the other, and a lot of people who own him a favor.
Pros: Impeccably played by Marlon Brando – Don Vito Corleone have been one of the most loved actors in the whole series. He was shown as head of the mafia, but he had very strict rules and principles. Maybe that’s a more reason why Marlon has been appreciated by the Italian community so much.
Cons: The first movie was a masterpiece, but many considered that the next ones are not as “good”, and they are lost in details. Even so, it’s just about the perspective. You will never know if you don’t take a look.
Schindler’s List (1993)
History will be always part of our past – no matter where we will be. But despite society, the trend, or the authority we can still make a choice. That’s what Shidler was doing in the Nazist Germany when Jews were on the blacklist of the party. He was creating lists of people who could be saved from the concertation camps.
Pros: A true story who will make you cry and will show that kindness is still there. Hope is even in the darkest periods.
Cons: Well… we try to find them, but maybe at the next million views we will see what the downside is.
Leonardo DiCaprio created alongside Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Ellen Page a world where you can change people’s thoughts. This beautiful idea was been formed on the fact that people’s minds can be manipulated – and what is the easiest way to do so if not in their dreams? Apparently, everything is a game, but the purpose is far from that. Why, what is the stake, and who is the hunted person – are just a few elements you need to chase.
Pro: Fantastic perspective and great visual effects! Only for these two and the movie needs to be added to your list.
Cons: Being so complex, sometimes some info/ details can be lost on the way. That’s why if you would try to talk about the particularities of it, you may not pay attention to quite everything.
Shawshank Redemption (1994)
Going to jail for something you didn’t do? Well, we will find a lot of movies regarding this theme. But this amazing one is about more than that. Is about patience, calm, frustration, peace.
The writer, Stephan King, and the director of the movie, Frank Darabont, created one of the most important movies in the history. Morgan Freeman and Tim Robbins are the main characters that show how friendship is formed and how the country’s justice system has never been more broken.
Pros: the saying “don’t judge a book by its cover” was never been better put as in this criminal charge. The way people behave, respond, and try to find their balance is exposed in a fantastic way – all in the background of a jail.
Pros: The whole idea of creating a story where a simple man wants to change the life of convicted criminals, is just incredible. The idea of the ability to change in a different environment has a different perspective here.
Cons: Maybe the fact that sometimes it’s still a reflection of the present society – not being able to connect with people anymore and find their own story.
